Frequently asked questions

Delivery, assembly, warranty and the machine itself

Does the mower arrive assembled?

Yes. Every machine is assembled, filled with oil and test-started by a technician before it ships. You unbox it, check the fuel and go.

How is a riding mower delivered?

Riders, stand-ons and zero-turns ship by pallet freight, not parcel. The carrier calls ahead to arrange a delivery window. Someone needs to be there to sign, and you'll want a clear route from the kerb to where the machine will live.

Walk-behind mowers ship by standard courier.

What does the warranty cover?

Engines carry a 3-year manufacturer warranty, which we register for you at checkout so there's no card to post. Deck and drivetrain terms vary by model — the exact terms are in the manual that ships with the machine.

Wear items like blades, belts and filters aren't covered, but we stock them all.

Can I return a mower?

Yes, within the window set out in our returns policy, provided the machine is unused and in its original packaging. Once a mower has been run, fuel and oil are in it and it can no longer go back as new.

If something arrives damaged or won't start, contact us first — that's a warranty matter, not a return.

Do you stock spare parts?

Blades, belts, filters and spark plugs for every model we sell are kept in stock and ship the same day. If you're not sure which part fits, call with your model and serial number and we'll match it.

What size lawn is a 22-inch deck good for?

Up to about half an acre. Past that the passes start to add up and a 30-inch deck or a rider saves real time.

What does all-wheel drive actually help with?

Slopes, banks and damp grass. A front-wheel-drive mower loses grip as soon as the front lifts on an incline. With power to all four wheels it keeps pulling, so you're steering rather than shoving.

How does Personal Pace work?

There's no speed lever. Push a little harder on the handle and it speeds up, ease off and it slows. It takes about five minutes to stop thinking about it.

Can it bag as well as mulch?

Yes. The Recycler cutting system mulches clippings back into the lawn, and you can switch to bagging or side discharge depending on how long the grass has got.

Is a 30-inch walk-behind too much for a normal lawn?

It's aimed at half an acre to an acre — the range where a 21-inch machine takes too long but a rider is more than you need. On a big lawn the wider deck cuts the number of passes substantially.

Will it fit through a garden gate?

Measure your gate first. At 30 inches of deck the machine is wider than a standard walk-behind, and a narrow side gate can be a problem. If yours is tight, the 22-inch Recycler is the safer choice.

What is Spin-Stop?

It stops the blades while the engine keeps running, so you can move a bin or a toy out of the way and carry on without restarting.

Why two blades?

The two blades are timed to overlap, which gives an even cut across the full 30 inches rather than a ridge down the middle where a single blade would run out of reach.

How is a rear-engine rider different from a lawn tractor?

It's much smaller. The engine sits behind the seat instead of out front, which makes the whole machine shorter and far easier to store and manoeuvre. The trade-off is a narrower deck and less towing capacity.

Will it fit through a side gate?

With a 30-inch deck it clears most standard gates, which is the main reason people choose it over a full tractor. Measure your gate at its narrowest point before ordering.

Is the manual transmission hard to use?

No. You pick a speed with the lever and drive — there's no clutch pedal work while mowing. If you'd rather not shift at all, an automatic or hydrostatic machine is the alternative.

How tight does it turn?

An 18-inch turning radius, so it comes around trees and flower beds without the three-point turns a bigger tractor needs.

Why stand instead of sit?

You get on and off in a second, which matters on a lawn round with a lot of gates and obstacles. You also see the deck edge better, and the machine is shorter than a sit-on zero-turn so it fits more trailers.

Can it be used as a walk-behind?

Yes. The platform folds up and you walk behind it — useful for steep banks where you'd rather not be riding.

Is this a commercial machine?

Yes. It's built for daily commercial use with a 36-inch TURBO FORCE deck and a 15 HP Kawasaki engine. For a home lawn it's more machine than most people need.

Will a 36-inch deck fit through gates?

It clears most standard gates, which is why the 36-inch size is popular for residential lawn rounds. Check the narrowest gate on your route before ordering.

How much lawn justifies a zero-turn?

Roughly two acres and up. Below that a rider or a wide walk-behind usually makes more sense, both to buy and to store.

What does MyRide suspension do?

The operator platform is suspended separately from the frame, so bumps go into the springs rather than into you. On rough ground over a couple of hours the difference is the whole point.

Is a zero-turn hard to learn?

The lap-bar steering takes a session to get used to — each bar drives one wheel. Practise on open lawn before you go near flower beds. Once it clicks, trimming around obstacles is far quicker than with a steering wheel.

Can I use it on slopes?

Zero-turns lose steering traction on steep ground and shouldn't be run across severe slopes. The operator's manual gives the limits for this model — read that section before you mow a bank.

Upgraded from my 4 year old recycler and boy what a difference, battery power last nearly 1.5 hours, I'm on a hilly .97 acres and this mower is slicing through 8 to 10 inch rapidly growing spring grass! What use to take 3 to 4 hours with breaks between battery re-charges in now taking an hour to hour and a half! Impressive.

Toro has created an excellent battery powetec mower lawnmower that makes mowing the lawn a pleasure. Aftet 20 years of struggling with the pull start on a gas mower, I thoroughly appreciate the ease of push button starting. The self propelled mower works beautifully. As an added bonus, its quiet ! Love this mower!
