Free 30-day returns on every mower
Thirty days from delivery to change your mind. We cover the return shipping, and there's no restocking fee.
Buying a mower online means committing to a machine you haven't stood next to. The 30-day window exists so you can check it fits your lawn, your gate and your shed before you're stuck with it.
There's one condition, and it's the important part: the machine has to be returnable as new. Section 2 explains exactly what that means.
1. What's covered
30 days
From the delivery date, not the order date.
Weekends and holidays count.
Free return shipping
We arrange collection and cover the cost, including pallet freight on riders and zero-turns.
No restocking fee
On machines returned unused. Nothing deducted from your refund.
Full refund
The purchase price and any tax, back to your original payment method.
This applies to every machine we sell — walk-behinds, riding mowers, stand-ons and zero-turns — and to parts and accessories in their original packaging.
2. What "unused" means
Every mower we ship has already been assembled, filled with oil and test-started by our technician. That's deliberate, and it doesn't count against your return.
A machine is still returnable if you have:
- Unpacked it and looked it over
- Rolled it around the garage or checked it against your gate
- Sat on it, adjusted the deck height, or read the manual
- Started it briefly to check it runs
A machine is no longer returnable as new once you have:
- Added fuel and mowed with it
- Put hours on the engine
- Damaged, modified or fitted non-standard parts to it
- Lost the manual, keys or original packaging
Fuel is the line
Once petrol goes in the tank and the machine cuts grass, it is a used mower and cannot be sold to the next customer as new. If you're unsure whether a machine suits your lawn, call us before you fuel it — we'd rather spend ten minutes on the phone than take back a machine nobody can buy.
3. How to start a return
1
Contact us
Email or call with your order number and what you'd like to do. Tell us if the machine has been fuelled — it changes what we can offer, and we'd rather know up front.
2
We authorise the return
You'll get a return reference and instructions. Don't ship anything back before this — unauthorised returns can't be tracked to your order.
3
Repack the machine
Original packaging where possible, with the manual, keys and any accessories. For a rider or zero-turn we'll tell you how to secure it to the pallet.
4
We arrange collection
Courier pickup for walk-behinds, freight collection for larger machines. We book it and cover the cost. Someone needs to be there to hand it over.
5
We inspect and refund
The machine is checked on arrival and your refund is issued. See section 5 for timing.
4. If you've already run it
You need one clear rule for a mower that has been fuelled and used. The two workable options are:
Option A — not returnable. "Machines that have been fuelled and used cannot be returned. If the machine is faulty, it's covered by warranty instead." Simplest to administer, and standard across the industry.
Option B — accept with a deduction. "Used machines may be accepted at our discretion with a deduction of X% reflecting the loss in value." Friendlier, but you must state the percentage, because an unspecified deduction is the kind of term that gets challenged.
Whichever you choose, a machine that is faulty rather than unwanted is handled under warranty and is not affected by this section. See section 8.
5. Refunds
Timing
- Inspection: within 2 business days of the machine reaching us
- Refund issued: within 2 business days of inspection
- Bank processing: a further 3–5 business days, depending on your bank
We'll email you when the machine arrives and again when the refund goes out, so you're not left guessing.
What you get back
- The full purchase price of the machine
- Any sales tax charged
- Return shipping — we cover it, so there's nothing to reimburse
How it's paid
Refunds go to the original payment method. If that card has expired or been cancelled, contact us and we'll arrange an alternative. Store credit is available if you'd prefer it, but it's never the default.
6. Exchanges
If you've ended up with the wrong size of machine, an exchange is usually quicker than a return and a fresh order.
- Same conditions apply: the machine must be returnable under section 2
- Price difference: pay the difference for a larger machine, or we refund it for a smaller one
- Timing: the replacement ships once we've received and inspected the original
Exchanges are most often a deck-size change — someone bought a 22-inch and found their lawn needed a 30. Tell us the acreage, the slope and the narrowest gate and we'll get it right the second time.
7. Damaged or faulty on arrival
This isn't a return, and the 30-day window isn't the relevant limit. Handle it like this:
- Note damage on the delivery receipt before signing. Signing a clean receipt makes a carrier claim far harder to win
- Photograph everything, including the packaging and pallet
- Tell us within 24 hours of delivery, or within 72 hours for damage you only find on unpacking
- Don't run the machine if you suspect damage
- Keep the packaging until the claim is settled
We open the carrier claim and arrange repair or replacement. You don't pay for shipping, and you don't chase the carrier yourself.
See our Shipping & Delivery Policy for the full detail.
8. Returns vs warranty
These are two different things and it's worth knowing which one applies:
A return
The machine is fine, you've changed your mind or picked the wrong size.
Window: 30 days, machine unused.
A warranty claim
The machine is faulty. Being used doesn't count against you — that's what the warranty is for.
Window: the manufacturer's warranty term.
Engine warranty is registered for you at checkout, so we can look up your claim from your order. Deck and drivetrain terms vary by model — see the manual that shipped with the machine, or our Warranty Policy.
If a mower develops a fault in the first 30 days, contact us either way and we'll route it correctly. You don't need to work out which category it falls in.
9. What can't be returned
- Machines that have been fuelled and used — see section 4
- Blades, belts and filters that have been fitted — a fitted blade is a used blade
- Parts ordered specially for your machine that we don't normally stock
- Machines missing the manual, keys or accessories they shipped with
- Anything modified or fitted with non-standard parts
Unfitted parts in their original packaging are returnable within the same 30 days.
10. International orders
[CHECK — delete if you only ship within the US.]
- The 30-day window is the same
- Return shipping is the customer's responsibility — free return shipping applies to US orders only
- Import duties and taxes already paid are usually not refundable by us
- Allow additional time for transit and customs
